Presidents and Vice Presidents Who Have Kissed (ranked)
The Commander in Chief and their Head Lackey work long hours together and form a bond unlike any other. Naturally, this has manifested itself in some pretty steamy kisses throughout the years. Not every Executive office duo has shared a tender moment like this but in fact 17 have. As a presidential historian I felt it was my duty to share my research. Anyway here they are ranked:
17) James Polk and George Dallas- As his namesake would imply Dallas wasn’t a steer… This was simply a casual love affair in a Cabaret-esque period of American history. No further explanation needed.
16) Joe Biden and Kamala Harris- In no way sexual when Kamala received the Democratic nomination she kissed a withering Biden on the forehead.
15) FDR and Harry Truman- Inversely to Biden-Harris, while wheelchair bound FDR asserted his dominance over Truman by making him give him a little kissy kissy.
14) Jimmy Carter and Walter Mondale- A true humanitarian Carter was as generous as a kisser as he is in all other facets of life. The recently turned centenarian is said to still hold the same prowess with his lips he had while in office.
13) Herbert Hoover and Charles Curtis- The Depression was hard on everyone especially the two men the nation turned to for guidance. Unable to lead to country they found themselves in each other’s arms providing each other the emotional support necessary. Long rounds of tonsil hockey filled the halls of the West wing.
12) Rutherford B Hayes and William Wheeler- As forgettable as his presidency. Their lone kiss epitomized the Guilded Age.
11) Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush- Hollywood goes to the White House. Unfortunately, Reagan saved his liberal sexual orientation views for his private life and persecuted the public for what he held deep inside.
10) George Washington and John Adams- This is only getting a top 10 stop because of the precedent it set as the first president and vice president. Really more of a holdover from the European way of life we were leaving. Europeans love kissing.
9) Donald Trump and Mike Pence- A little light razzing by Trump, he would kiss open homophobe Mike Pence every chance he got. A true progressive hero.
8) Theodore Roosevelt and Charles Fairbanks- A rugged individualist that did everything passionately Roosevelt did not hold back exploring parts of the mouth no president had before.
7) John Quincy Adams and John C. Calhoun- Spoiler not the last time we will see Calhoun. That plus the strong bloodline from Adams makes this a no brainer top 10. Technically solid kissers who never overdid it.
6) Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson- The Great Orator turned Great Oraltor. A skilled tonguesman Lincoln brought this divided union back from the brink by locking lips with his political counterweight Johnson.
5) Barack Obama and Joe Biden- The first interracial smooch in presidential history. These two had the upmost respect for each other and both confused by the other’s culture deemed a kiss the best way to demonstrate that.
4) Dwight Eisenhower and Richard Nixon- We like Ike! This is the man who brought militaristic precision to the make out game that we have never seen before or since. Bonus points for laying the groundwork for an accomplished smooches in his own right Richard Nixon.
3) Andrew Jackson and John C. Calhoun- The only VP to lock lips with two Presidents, Calhoun carried the torch for all passionate men in early America. He navigated the excessive tongue usage of Jackson better than anyone could have imagined.
2) Calvin Coolidge and Charles Dawes- Silent Cal for a reason. His mouth was always occupied with the tender tender kissing that personified the rise of a burgeoning world power. The US and their leaders would set a new standard for excellence in lip locking.
1) Richard Nixon and Spiro Agnew- An act of desperation, these boys knew their goose was cooked and they gave in to their inhibitions. What followed was the longest make out sesh in US history. Although they hoped this would work as an out of left field filibuster to remain in office these two weathered political titans couldn’t keep it up for more than three days.
