My Obama List
They make apps to rank all of these things or whatever, but I'm just not doing that. No music is included because Spotify Wrapped covers that for me. Please do not use these rankings to influence any gambling you may do. "This is an exhibition not a competition, please no wagering." Obama just lists his consumed media, whereas I'm brave enough to rank all of my consumption.
TV: These shows all had a season come out this year and I watched all the episodes. Those are the only requirements. Rankings are based off the season that came out this year not the entire show.
9) The Last of Us (S2)- I liked it, but they could've wrapped it up in this season if they tried harder.
8) I Love LA (S1)- I laughed a good amount and I'll watch the next season.
7) Yellowjackets (S3)- Good bounce back season after that disaster for a second season.
6) Task (S1)- A good cop show always works for me.
5) Andor (S2)- This is probably the best a Star Wars show can be.
4) Pluribus (S1)- Funny show and a theory show that also tells you everything.
3) The Chair Company (S1)- Not sure what's happening, but I like it. Tim Robinson finally found his medium.
2) The Rehearsal (S2)- Why isn't this number 1?
1) Severance (S2)- This is my favorite show. Please don't ask me what is happening in this show.
Books: These are the books I finished this year. No audiobooks listed, but I'm not anti.
Honorable mention: The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner, The Iliad by Homer, I think I read the short story collection What We Talk About When We Talk About Love by Raymond Carver this year but I'm not sure so I'm not ranking it, but it was awesome.
10) Harold by Steven Wright- Funniest book I read.
9) Cities of the Plain by Cormac McCarthy- My least favorite McCarthy and it's still good.
8) Lords of the Realm: The Real History of Baseball by John Helyar- Took a while to read, but somehow it made arbitration and union meetings interesting.
7) The Big East by Dana O'Neil- The death of the Big East radicalized me when I was 14 and this book reopened those wounds then gave me closure.
6) The Copenhagen Trilogy by Tove Ditlevsen- Maybe we're all just a girl from Copenhagen. Finding out this is a memoir after the fact was interesting.
5) The Moviegoer by Walker Percy- Several dudes came up to tell me how much they like this book when they saw me reading it. I don't think it hit me with the same punch it did form them, but it is very good.
4) A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway- One of those books I didn't read in school, but it is actually great and I should have read it earlier.
3) Ubik by Philip K. Dick- Great quick sci-fi read. I'll check out more stuff by PKD.
2) Dune by Frank Herbert- I'll be reading the rest of the series in 2026. Dune coming into my life is the worst thing to happen to my Star Wars fandom because this is what I always wanted from Star Wars.
1) The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera- All I knew about this book was that it is set in Prague and now I've thought about this book more than any other I read this year. Spoiler: the dog dies and that is not the most upsetting thing in this book.
Movies: These came out this year and I watched the whole thing. The Brutalist came out this year, but isn't included because it was nominated for last year's Oscars. Official 2026 Oscars betting guide still to come.
Watched, but not ranked: The Smashing Machine, Honey Don't, Superman, Mickey 17
Honorable Mention: The Naked Gun, Friendship, Warfare
10) Marty Supreme- Haven't seen it yet, but I know it will belong on here.
9) Eddington- Took a swing and it was funny. Emma Stone and Austin Butler are in this movie, but not nearly enough.
8) Caught Stealing- Austin Butler is a cool guy in this movie. I still own more Austin Butler stock than anyone in the world.
7) Blue Moon- The parts I don't like are still entertaining.
6) Weapons- This was funny horror movie, so I liked it. Didn't cover my eyes much.
5) Sinners- If this movie is on TV I'd stop on that channel every time.
4) Jay Kelly- Movies about Hollywood don't usually work for me until Noah Baumbach makes it.
3) Bugonia- I didn't know this movie was gonna be so funny. I could also see people laughing zero times during this movie. Emma Stone is the best one doing it.
2) F1- Now I watch F1 races every Sunday morning. I tried pushing my foot down on an imaginary gas pedal in the theater. Brad Pitt drives a racecar.
1) One Battle After Another- Lots of laughs in the theater. Then the road scene. Can be a discussion movie if that's what you want.
